Netflix gives more details on its next Bird Box spin off!

Gone are the days when Netflix was laughed at for its poor quality productions. Indeed, many of its original content has met with great success with audiences and even critics in recent years. Among the first big successes of the service, it is impossible not to mention “Bird Box”.

Released in 2018, the film broke records on the platform, notably collecting nearly 280 million hours of viewing just one month after joining the Netflix catalog. Four years later and the streaming giant has decided to put the cover back with a spin off.

The news was announced last March and now more information finally comes to support it with in particular information on the plot and the casting of the feature film.

A spin off with Spanish sauce

As a reminder, Bird Box tells the story of a woman and her two children through a post-apocalyptic world where people are forced to constantly blindfold if they want to survive… Well according to the latest news released by Netflix , the spin off will focus this time on a man and his daughter trying to survive on the streets of Barcelona.

This new Bird Box project thus proposes to (re) discover the terrible events, but this time in Spain, and no longer in the United States as in the original opus. Something to arouse curiosity, especially since fans are already wondering how Netflix will attack the plot. They’re hoping the service doesn’t just offer a Hispanic version of the 2018 film!

Filming begins in November

If all goes well, the filming of the Spanish spin-off of Bird Box should begin next November. The film could then land on the platform in December 2022! If we already knew since March that the brothers Alex and David Pastor are directing, it is only now that the cast is finally known. Netflix did not choose just anyone to succeed Sandra Bullock.

It has in fact been announced that the spin off will be carried by names that are not unknown to the big and / or small screen: we can in particular quote Mario Casas (The Witches of Zugarramurdi, Innocent), Georgina Campbell (Broadchurch, Krypton) or Diego Calva (Narcos: Mexico, Babylon). See you next year to discover the first images of the film!
