(ANSA) – PARMA, 29 OCT – From 4 to 6 November the ‘Barezzi Festival’ returns to Parma, dedicating the fifteenth edition to Franco Battiato, special guest of the first edition and artistic reference of the following ones. Inspired by his figure, Barezzi 2021 adopts ‘Distant Worlds’ as the subtitle, “to recall Battiato’s immense talent in creating bridges, in uniting music and cultures”. In the name of the Maestro, the Teatro Regio di Parma and the Auditorium del Carmine will welcome some of the best names on the Italian and international music scene.

Beginning, Thursday 4th, with “Cantantessa” Carmen Consoli, who in 25 years of career has established herself as one of the most refined, intense and original artists on the Italian music scene and who will be in Parma for the first date of the presentation tour of the his new album ‘I Wanted to Be a Rockstar’. On the 5th it is up to Iosonouncane, consecrated by his latest album ‘Ira’ as one of the most courageous and innovative artists on the national independent scene and back from a tour that has crossed Italy to ‘sold out blows’.

Final on 6 November with the Irish post-punk band Fontaines DC, which presents for the first time in Italy the second album ‘A Hero’s Death’. Alongside them, other artists with a recognized and respected musical path – from Radiodervish to Alessandro Nidi, from Filippo Destrieri to Nicolò Carnesi – will pay homage to Battiato by re-proposing entire albums or some songs.

‘Barezzi Festival’ takes its name from Antonio Barezzi, patron of Giuseppe Verdi who sensed his genius and financed his studies, and is organized and produced by the Luce Cultural Association in co-production with Teatro Regio di Parma, artistic direction of Giovanni Sparano. (HANDLE).
