Cannes Film Festival: Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio present “Killers of the Flower Moon”

American director Martin Scorsese will present his new film “Killers of the Flower Moon” at the Cannes Film Festival (May 16-27). In addition to the 80-year-old filmmaker, the actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone and other actors are expected on site in May, as the festival announced on Friday.

“Killers of the Flower Moon” celebrates its world premiere on May 20th in Cannes. The Apple-produced film is based on a book by American journalist David Grann and tells of a series of murders of an indigenous people in Oklahoma in the 1920s.

Scorsese has been a frequent guest at Cannes. In 1976 he won the Palme d’Or for his film “Taxi Driver” and ten years later he was awarded the Director’s Prize for “Time After Midnight”. In 1998 he was jury president. As previously announced, Ruben Östlund will be chairman of the jury this year. (dpa)
