Cancellation of the concerts?: Rammstein can’t help but finish the tour

It’s a strange situation, especially with Rammstein: On the one hand, there are serious allegations by many women that Till Lindemann sexually abused them. On the other hand, the band seems to be playing their concerts unwaveringly, right now until next Sunday in Munich.

The “Bild” has just commissioned a survey from the opinion institute Insa, with some ado, according to which 45 percent of Germans are in favor of canceling the Rammstein shows in Munich and in July in Berlin until the allegations have been clarified.

This may correspond to a felt mood, but it is basically not possible. If one disregards the fact that this would be a very offensive admission of guilt by Lindemann and his band – the band’s second statement, the resignation of the Russian castress and Rammstein’s order to an external law firm to clarify the often described events, prove that there is rumbling.

Gerrit Bartels was at the Rammstein concert in the Olympic Stadium on June 4, 2022 and wrote a concert report about it.

It’s about a lot of money

But for such a tour there are contracts with concert promoters and stadium operators, with companies that take care of the technical process of the shows, the sound, the fireworks and the catering. It’s about a lot of money, with a tour of this magnitude anyway, about money that not only Rammstein earn.

In short: There are quite a few jobs attached to the whole thing, and despite Till Lindemann’s allegedly completely irresponsible behavior, Rammstein has a responsibility towards the crew, the many people involved in this tour.

The same applies to the songs, which the band could possibly do without as a signal of sensitivity. Rammstein shows are choreographed in such a way that it just doesn’t seem possible to do without “Pussy” as the last song of the first encore block. The setlists of previous shows in Vilnius, Helsinki or Odense show only very few variations, “Mein Herz brennt” is always the sixth track.

So the shows have to go on as they did for a variety of reasons. So it’s only up to the conscience (or loyalty to the Nibelungen) of each individual Rammstein fan whether they want to see the band under the given circumstances.
