It is with them that Luca Zingaretti, one of the most loved and popular artists on the Italian scene, will celebrate his 60th birthday on 11 November. His career includes a roundup of different roles, with a character who identified him for 21 years in the eyes of the general public, ‘Il commissario Montalbano’.

Always divided between TV, cinema and theater, Luca Zingaretti has shown many faces, from the traitor father, passing through the fraudulent lawyer and the drug dealer, to Father Pino Puglisi, or Perlasca, up to the criminal lawyer and entrepreneur Olivetti . He has finished shooting for Sky of the series “Il Re” (broadcast in 2022), eight episodes in which he is the director of a prison, Bruno Testori, in dark shades with an overbearing dark side. We will hear the beautiful voice of Zingaretti in the hall from November 24 in the new animated film Encanto, by Walt Disney, by Jared Bush and Byron Howard: it is Bruno, Mirabel’s uncle with the gift of foreseeing the future. Asked several times about the possibility that he will return to take on the role of Montalbano (at the moment the very successful series, which after 20 years continues to play in reruns and rejoinders, does not appear in the schedules and there are no traces of a set under construction), of which among other things, he directed the last episodes, after the death of Andrea Camilleri and the historical director Sironi, he always replied more or less in a similar way, “it was a wonderful professional and human adventure”, expressing uncertainty about the continuation of the adventure because of the many goodbyes that have followed one another over the last few years and that have studded the TV series with mourning. Luca Zingaretti’s first film roles arrive at the turn of the Eighties and Nineties, among others Giuliano Montaldo’s Golden Glasses, Marco Risi’s The Pack and Ricky Tognazzi’s Strangled Lives. With his sense of justice and his human piety, this commissioner has immersed himself in pain since 1999, putting things in order without accepting comfortable truths. In his career there is no shortage of biopics: from Pietro Nenni in the miniseries The young Mussolini, Giorgio Perlasca in An Italian hero, Paolo Borsellino in The 57 days and Adriano Olivetti in The strength of a dream. At the cinema, on the other hand, he gave his face to Don Pino Puglisi in In the light of the sun of Faenza, which earned him an award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and a 2005 David di Donatello nomination (for best actor). In 2018 to commemorate the anniversary of one of the most crucial events in contemporary Italian history, the Moro kidnapping, Zingaretti brought the civil prayer “55 Days. Italy without Moro” to Rai1.

The theater has always accompanied his professional career which sees him engaged in the dual role of actor and director and after concluding the tour of La Torre IVORY in 2013, he returns to confirm in 2015 the sold out throughout Italy with the show. The Pride. In the 2018/2019 season and in 2020 he is engaged as director for the show The Deep Blue Sea.
