(ANSA) – VENICE, NOVEMBER 12 – The Procuratie Vecchie in Piazza San Marco in Venice will reopen in spring 2022, after a five-year restoration carried out by David Chipperfield Architects Milan on behalf of Generali.
With the start of the ‘countdown’ for the inauguration, a scale model of a portion of the building showing some of the interventions will be exhibited from today in the spaces of the “Human Garden” inside the Royal Gardens, at their once reopened to the public in 2019, again after a Generali restoration. Furthermore, unpublished photographs document the transformation of the building, to show the extent of the works and the challenges posed by the need to preserve the history of the building.
The works include the restoration of the first and second floors of the Procuratie, the reorganization of accessibility and usability through the inclusion of new stairs and the renovated central entrance on the third floor. It includes exhibition areas open to the public and linked to Generali’s “The Human Safety Net” foundation, work spaces and an auditorium. The building, which develops along the northern side of Piazza San Marco, will become a pole of attraction and activity, also with a social purpose. (HANDLE).
