A River to River actor Amitabh Bachchana, is India’s star

(ANSA) – FLORENCE, 15 NOV – Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, star of Indian cinema, will be the main guest of the 21 / o River to River Florence Indian film festival, the only festival in Italy that tells the face of India contemporary through the films and scheduled from 3 to 8 December in Florence, both at the La Compagnia cinema and on the Internet. The festival, explains a note, offers 34 screenings, including feature films, documentaries and short films, web series and artist films in international and European premieres, but also debates, exhibitions, cooking lessons and events.

Numerous guests will take turns on the stage and in connection, to present stories of redemption, of courage that leads to change, of female emancipation, like the image chosen for the poster: a woman, a symbol of life and rebirth. Bachchan will meet and converse with the spectators on Sunday 5 December (7 pm) after the Italian premiere of Rumy Jaffery’s film ‘Chehre’ which will be connected from India. This is a psychological thriller that stars the actor in the role of a former prosecutor who, together with three old colleagues in an isolated mountain house, enjoys staging a trial against a stranger seeking shelter from the bad weather. But things will soon turn out to be different from what they seem.

Among the scheduled events there is also a tribute to the master of Indian cinema Satyajit Ray, on the centenary of his birth with the screening of the Apu Trilogy. Among the novelties, River to River lands on Spotify with an ad hoc playlist and inaugurates the collaboration with Oxfam Italia for the I was a Sari project.
