Mariano Sabatini, journalist and appreciated author, Flaiano Opera Prima prize in 2017 for ‘L’Inganno dell’ippocastano’, makes his debut as a storyteller for children with ‘Una cagnolina non volo mica’, with illustrations by Giorgia Farnesi, published by Chiaredizioni.
A book that speaks to us of revenge and self-acceptance, of apprenticeship to affectivity, of education in acceptance and diversity, which is always a gift.
It is the story of Eimì, which in ancient Greek means “I am”, an unfortunate dog. The young Federica will give her that name when Eimì knows nothing, not even that she is a dog.
We meet her in her mother’s womb, from which, as soon as she is born, she is torn off. Closed in a plastic bag with her little siblings, she is thrown into a landfill on a night of furious storm.
From here begins his parable destined for a long journey to the home of Marco, Federica and Sara. The misadventures she experienced and the lack of care at birth will leave her with a thousand fears, great hesitations and the desire, at times irrepressible, to fly. To soar in the sky, to escape the dangers as crows and seagulls do.

Marco, however, repeats that “a dog doesn’t fly!”. So Eimì will learn at his expense, and thanks to the treacherous arrival of Potter, another foundling, what is the power of the imagination that saves.
Sabatini 50 years old, he was born and lives in Rome, with his daughters Flavia and Sofia, and the two little found dogs Eimì and Potter… in homage to Harry Potter! Thanks to TV, and to a program called ‘Parola mia’, he fell in love with the Italian language and used it to write television and radio programs, newspaper articles, stories for magazines and anthologies.
