The ancient armory of Palazzo Ducale inaugurated in Lucca

(ANSA) – LUCCA, 20 NOV – Back to life in a more consonant and adequate guise for the historic architectural complex of Palazzo Ducale, the former cafeteria of the Province of Lucca (with access from Cortile Carrara), next to the ‘passetto’ of access to piazza S. Romano which, from now on, will be called Antica Armeria.

The Province of Lucca, in fact, today inaugurated the new premises on the ground floor which have been the subject of a functional restyling and of important adaptation works for the creation of an educational reception area and information point of the European project Great Accessible Tyrrhenian Itinerary. (Grand Itinéraire Tyrrhénien accesible) funded by the Cooperation Program Italy – France Maritime 2014 – 2020 as part of the GritAccess project. The wooden columns of the Court theater of Princess Elisa Bonaparte are placed in the renovated rooms from today, after the restoration promoted by the ‘Napoleone and Elisa: from Paris to Tuscany’ association with the contribution of Banco Bpm-Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, Pisa, Livorno and the Rotary Club of Lucca. The rooms on the ground floor have been completely renovated both in the look and in the functional and plant parts with the provision of lighting points of great scenographic effect and also host a room for meetings and conferences. The works involved a commitment of just over 183 thousand euros of European funds by the Province. (HANDLE).
