In Genoa, Warhol’s work in ‘Andy Icona Pop’

(ANSA) – GENOA, 19 NOV – Multimedia, original works, the meticulous reconstruction of “The Factory” and a unique point of view on Warhol’s relationship with music, fashion, advertising and publishing. The ‘Andy Icona Pop’ exhibition dedicated to the figure and work of Andy Warhol opens its doors on November 19th at the Magazzini del Cotone in Genoa.

Curated by Edoardo Falcioni and produced by Navigare with the patronage of the Liguria Region and Genoa More ThanThis, it will remain open to the public until March 27, 2022. It is an exhibition entirely dedicated to the artist in which each work offers a reflection on the role of the artist at the time of a society with mass consumption. Warhol devoted himself body and soul to the creation of an autonomous space called ‘The Factory’. In this environment, meticulously reconstructed here in every detail, Andy managed to grow and prosper without having to resort to any art dealer. Not a simple gallery, whose concept was now outdated, but a factory of its own where you can produce all kinds of things.

“The Warholian revolution – writes Edoardo Falcioni, curator of the exhibition in the catalog – was not limited only to innovating what was represented on the canvas, but even completely modernized the very way of making art, that is the technique with which they were made. the works. The repetition and reworking of images of industrial consumer goods and icons has in fact involved the adoption of serialization techniques, which thus made Warhol more like a machine rather than an artist, consistently with what was once a of his main wishes: ‘The reason I paint this way is that I want to be a machine. Everything I do, like a machine, is what I want to do.’ “

Consultant for the musical part of the “Andy Icona Pop” exhibition is the music critic and journalist Red Ronnie. (HANDLE).
