(ANSA) – FLORENCE, NOV 24 – Rome, Milan and Catania are the three cities in Italy with the greatest growth in search interest in the period of April-July 2021 according to Google destination insights. While Florence in the period October-November 2021 is in fourth position for interest among the Italian cities. In general, the interest in Tuscany comes mainly from the Tuscan territory itself, followed by Lazio and Lombardy. This is what emerged from the first day of the 13th edition of Bto – Be Travel Onlife in which the Google search trends were illustrated.

In general, it is explained, it emerged that the travel demand is experiencing a good recovery and is approaching the values ​​of 2019. Globally, travel searches in the summer of 2021 touched almost the same levels measured in pre-Covid.

Looking at Italy, the trends in Google searches show how the growth in demand has gone through different phases: before the pandemic it was more concentrated on international destinations, then in 2020 it was first driven by various local destinations, while now it is led by the big ones. city. Business tourism is also among the topics addressed today: according to a research carried out by Sociometrica for Bto, on a sample of 2,500 companies representing Italian companies, over 63% have no intention of cutting expenses for business travel and over 72 % intend to leave the total of business trips unchanged compared to the pre-Covid period, while more than half of the interviewees believe face-to-face meetings irreplaceable. More specifically: when asked whether online calls can replace real discussion opportunities, 6.3% answered “yes, always”, 35% “yes in many cases”, 44% “only in some cases” and 14.7% “no, in no case”.
