Body and art in the present, Giornata Contemporaneo is back

(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 30 – A reinforced concrete mushroom that, among lush leaves, becomes a refuge for multicolored parrots, in what seems the theatrical staging of a concept of natural landscape that is only apparently spontaneous, but in reality bent to the desires of man: the Milanese artist Armin Linke has been entrusted with the guiding image of the Giornata del Contemporaneo, which returns for its seventeenth edition on 11 December with the aim of narrating throughout Italy, from small towns to large cities , the impulse given by contemporary art to the cultural, social and economic growth of the country. Promoted by the AMACI Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums, with the support of the General Direction for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, the initiative, as usual, will be characterized by a multiform program, with events finally realized in presence but with proposals also in version digital. Massive participation, for a total of about 500 subjects involved: alongside the 24 AMACI museums, there are many realities present, including museums, foundations, public and private institutions, galleries, associations, studios and artist spaces, which will open free of charge to audience to celebrate contemporary art. Starting from 6 December (until 11), the Contemporary Day will also take place abroad with the active involvement of Italian Embassies, Consulates and Institutes of Culture.

After the sad and complicated months of the pandemic, which brought the sector to its knees, there is therefore a great desire to restart looking to the future: in this sense, the theme of the performative chosen for 2021 should also be placed, in reference to the performer’s body. that invades the scene, but also to the non-postponable need to find new dynamics of interaction with the public through the sharing of space.
