Pages of passion, literary prize in the footsteps of Verga

(ANSA) – ALTAVILLA IRPINA, 30 NOV – To pay homage to Giovanni Verga’s talent in telling the turmoil of the human soul, the literary prize “Pages of Passion”, announced by the Municipality of Altavilla Irpina and conceived in collaboration with Marco Garavaglia. The award, the first edition of which will be presented on 4 December in the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Altavilla Irpina, wants to remember the great Sicilian writer who set “Elena’s husband” in the town of Campania, an intense novel that investigates ever-current themes. such as the role of the family, social differences and violence against women. The objective of the recognition, divided into the Italian fiction and Italian non-fiction sections, is therefore the promotion and dissemination of works that deal with the controversial and seductive mechanisms of human passions in their pages. The Award Jury, chaired by Paola Severino and composed of 17 jurors (including Mario Vanni, Franco Roberti, Maria Rita Parsi, Franco di Mare, Claudio Brachino, Umberto Brindani, Vittorio Tomasone, Gigi Marzullo, Lucio D’Alessandro), will designate each year the winning work of each section. The winners will receive the “Pagine di Passione” plaque, a cash prize and a prestigious work by the artist Mario Ferrante. The announcement is available on the comunealtavillairpina.gov.it website.
