Alex Pina, let’s close The Paper House by putting the puzzle back together

Four years after arriving on
Netflix, where it achieved worldwide success by staying a
along the non-English series most viewed on the platform
at the debut of the various seasons, (record beaten in 2021 by
Lupine and The Squid game), the gang of multiple robbers
surprising, dysfunctional and anti-TV system, it stands for
implement the latest feats. In fact, they make their debut on 3
December on Netflix the five episodes of Volume 2 of the fifth
part of La Casa di Carta, final act of the story conceived by
Spanish Alex Pina.
“This volume 2 is much richer in emotion. Let’s put it
together all the pieces of the puzzle, let’s add more elements
emotional to the characters, sometimes we close the circle on the portrait
of some of them, giving the answers to help understand
the entire universe of the series. From a narrative perspective,
this was the most difficult chapter to write but also the
more exciting, “explains the showrunner at a global conference
streaming together with many of the most loved protagonists from
public. Actors like Alvaro Morte, interpreter of the professor,
brilliant mind and charismatic guide of the gang characterized by
a red ‘uniform’ and a Dali mask on his face when he is in
action and the fact that each member hides (or so should) the
own identity by adopting the name of a city.
A group of criminals (but not only, there are also components
‘acquired’) with difficult pasts, complex characters and
singular abilities, among which Berlin (Pedro Alonso), Tokyo
(Ursula Corberó), Rio (Miguel Herrán), Denver (Jaime Lorente),
Stockholm (Esther Acebo), Helsinki (Darko Peric), Bogota (Hovik
Keuchkerian), Marseille (Luka Peros), Manila (Belen Cuesta),
Nairobi (Alba Flores), Palermo (Rodrigo de la Serna). Senza
forget key characters like former Inspector Raquel
Murillo, who became the professor’s companion and a member of the gang
with the name of Lisbon (Itziar Ituno); Arturo (Enrique Arce),
entered history as director of the Mint attacked by
group or the ruthless former inspector Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri).
The series debuted in 2017 in Spain with the first
season on Antena 3, but only after the new editing and the
distribution on Netflix (also producer of the others
seasons) has become a global phenomenon. “Volume one of the
Part 5 (released on September 3, ed) ends with a moment
watershed like the death of Tokyo – recalls Esther Martínez
Lobato, co-writer and executive co-producer -. Leads
towards the epilogue characters who have long lived with the
public. These last chapters pay homage to all of them,
for each there is room to show a little more of their own
feelings. ”An aspect that Alvaro particularly appreciated
Death: “The professor sometimes seems to be a wonderful
robot, I love it when it shows its humanity too. It is not
perfect, he is a human being who also makes mistakes “.
The actor, like many of his set mates, was moved
on the last day of shooting: “It was very nice, I am
found working with the same team that was with me in mine
first day on set – he says smiling -. It really was
exciting, but I was serene. The first goodbye to the series, more
difficult, I had given it after the first two parts (in 2017, before
of the success on Netflix, ed), when the series appeared to be
over. I lived this second life of his with much more calm and
joy. “For him The House of Paper” ends at the right time, not
we drained the characters. It’s wonderful to stop now,
leaving when we are at our peak is a gift we give to
fans”.
As to why the show got such a hit, “there isn’t
a single answer – comments Ursula Corberó -. I think it is
much due to the link between the various characters, together they form
a kind of family, a brotherhood and sisterhood, and these
they are universal elements. “There are however also more explanations
unusual, adds the interpreter from Tokyo: “There are those who think the
public relates to a structure and metaphors that
would recall those of football: there are two teams, the reds
and the blues, a sort of referee, we have a hymn … “.
Anyway, as the Spanish masquerade band retires,
another one is being prepared in another continent: it is already in the phase of
in fact filming a Korean remake of the series with Alex Pina between
executive producers.
