He left with a boat, he will return to Lagos to shoot a documentary

(ANSA) – PALERMO, 01 DEC – The crowdfunding campaign for the making of “Back to Motherland”, a documentary shot in Lagos, Nigeria, by Nigerian director Shayo Three, in which Chris Obehi will tell his story of redemption and freedom, determination and new possibilities, crowned with the realization of his dream: to return home as an artist after crossing the sea on a boat of migrants.

Having arrived from Nigeria in Italy in 2015, Obehi (in Esan “hand of the angel”) begins to study guitar; in 2019 he made the video for “Cu ti lu dissi” by Rosa Balistreri, which goes around Italy. Subsequently, with the team of the Palermo label 800a Records, Chris starts the first crowdfunding campaign thanks to which he manages to produce my first album, “Obehi”, which is followed by the national tour.

“Now, after all this, I am going back to Nigeria, to Lagos to produce new music in the cradle of Afrobeat, where everything was born – says Chris -. A journey that is not only the realization of an artistic dream, but brings with it a much greater meaning: returning home as an artist and as a human being who has taken his life and dreams in hand. A desire that also arises from the awareness that the stories of migrants who arrive from the sea and who rewrite their destiny, realizing their dreams and the possibility of returning to their own land as professionals are still too few. I leave, this time with a plane ticket in my pocket, but no less dreams than the time I left those lands. the joy of seeing the places I know, my family, the people I left, the roads I have traveled since I was a child. I am returning home for an important project as a musician, ready to immerse myself again in the culture I come from. ” (HANDLE).
