In Bologna an exhibition on the history of the Afro-descendants

(ANSA) – BOLOGNA, 02 DEC – An exhibition dedicated to contemporary Afro-descendant art. From 3 December to 20 February the Farnese room of Palazzo d’Accursio will host ‘Les filons géologiques’, an exhibition curated by Black history month of Florence and Bologna, two associations that are involved in promoting cultural productions of African origin in Italy, in collaboration with Bologna Museums Institutions. On the occasion of the month of black history, which will take place in February around the world, the works of thirteen international artists will be exhibited dedicated to the perceptions of geography and historiography in the contemporary world, but also to the role of the African diaspora in Italy. The name of the exhibition refers to a line from the poem ‘Allure’ by the Martinique author Aimé Césaire, one of the main exponents, together with the Senegalese poet Léopold Sédar Senghor, of the artistic and political movement of negritude. “Poetry seems like a metaphor for us to think about the traces that remain of history and the work that needs to be done on these traces,” said Justin Randolph Thompson, artist and member of the Black history month Friday collective. “The nationalistic perceptions of history leave no room for the narratives of the subjugated people – added Patrick Joel Tatcheda Yonkeu, artist and curator of the exhibition – we want to show how in today’s neo-colonialism the borders move on the bodies of the descendants of colonized countries”.
