Students and inmates protagonists of the doc Rebibbia Lockdown

(ANSA) – ROME, DECEMBER 04 – Four Luiss university students and a group of inmates from the High Security department of the Rebibbia prison. It is the documentary film Rebibbia Lockdown – directed by Fabio Cavalli and born from an idea of ​​the vice president of Luiss, Paola Severino – which will be premiered by Speciale Tg1, in collaboration with Rai Cinema, on Sunday 5 December at 11.40pm on Rai 1.

The film gives voice to the fears and anxieties generated by the pandemic within the prison universe and its impact on inmates and on the staff of the Penitentiary Police. In the period in which Covid-19 has forced everyone into isolation, a dense exchange of letters is established between the protagonists of the documentary film in which everyone chooses to tell dreams, hopes and sacrifices with an open heart. Only at the end of the lockdown, all the protagonists will be able to meet again personally in the Rebibbia university classroom, feeling more connected than before.

Rebibbia lockdown is also the natural continuation of the “Legality and Merit in schools” project. Born in 2017, the project has always been designed for secondary school students and for young people detained at juvenile penal institutions throughout Italy, to raise awareness of the values ​​of legality and merit, the culture of co-responsibility, rules and civic sense, transparency and respect for common goods.

“Legality and Merit in schools” is an initiative developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of University and Research, the Superior Council of the Judiciary, the National Anti-Mafia and Counter-terrorism Directorate and the National Anti-Corruption Authority.
