(ANSA) – ROME, 15 DEC – The board of directors of Fai – Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano, following the decision of the president Andrea Carandini to resign, has appointed new president Marco Magnifico, former executive vice president of FAI since January 2010 to October 2021. The board of directors thanked Carandini “for the extraordinary and tireless commitment, wisdom and foresight lavished in recent years in favor of the Foundation and in general in favor of our country, with the certainty that friendship and closeness that binds him to the FAI will never fail “. “I have dedicated my presidency – said Carandini – to a reform of the Foundation, so that it emancipated itself from the circumstances of its beginnings, grow and mature, thus being able to last over time, as a stable institution of the Republic. The reform consisted of a strategic plan , which will end in 2024, aimed at creating the ‘new dimension’, increased, of Fai: not only more assets protected, valued and managed – today 68, 20 more since 2013 – and more sustainable (for 85% of charges) -, and a network of thousands of volunteers in now 350 locations throughout the country, but also a reinforcement of cultural activity, refounded on scientific research applied to cultural enhancement and on a vision of the FAI heritage as parts and expressions of contexts, and of an ‘environment’ reconsidered as an indissoluble interweaving of nature and history. But a reform is not complete if it does not facilitate progress: hence rejuvenation, starting with the presidential one. Today I make the FAI in the hands of the new president, Marco Magnifico, who will be the guarantor of an organized, solid, mature and effective structure in pursuing the mission, in the wake of the tradition of the founders, but launched towards the future “.
