2Cellos, it’s time to take new paths

In 10 years, 2Cellos have revolutionized music, blazed a new path between classical and modern, released six albums (the last “Dedicated” released in September), collected billions of streams and visualizations with their performances out of any pattern. But now, for the cello rock stars “it’s time to take new paths, to open new chapters in our life. Together we have achieved incredible goals”. After 10 years, since in 2011 the video of their personal reinterpretation of Michael Jackson’s hit Smooth Criminal goes viral on Youtube and Elton John calls them with him on tour, Luka Sulic and Hauser, they have decided to put an end to the 2Cellos project, but not without a world tour (starting in March in the US, covid permitting, and which will stop at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan on May 20) “which must be memorable. The best tour ever, with the best lineup ever. Not one show full of sadness, but a celebration of 10 fantastic years. A real happy ending “, say the two – in Rome to record the Christmas Concert in the Vatican – who have decided to satisfy their personal needs and continue with solo careers , for a couple of years already. “We have grown up, Luka wants to be more with his family, with his two small children, I want to conquer the world”, explains Hauser, who has always been the more extrovert of the two. Freedom to express yourself, “but also greater responsibility. When you are alone, you can always blame the other if something doesn’t work, lean on the other. Not anymore, we no longer depend on each other”. But friendship, that will remain. “Of the 2Cellos we will miss the fun, the jokes, the company. And the wild rock.” In 10 years they have revolutionized classical music, broken down the boundaries of genres, and opened new paths. And they are well aware of it. “We were pioneers, now everything has changed. We have inspired many artists and the most important legacy we leave as 2Cellos is to push the kids to get out of their rooms and try.” Luka will now devote himself to his music and compositions, Hauser will focus more on dance and romantic music. Meanwhile, before the world tour, 2Cellos will give fans a new performance for Christmas. The duo is in the cast of the twenty-ninth edition of the “Christmas Concert”, presented by Federica Panicucci at the Auditorium della Conciliazione in Rome which will be broadcast in prime time on December 24 on Canale 5, in support of the activities of Missioni Don Bosco Valdocco Onlus and of the Pontifical Scholas Occurrentes Foundation. “We couldn’t say no to such an invitation. We also had the honor and the opportunity to meet the Pope. An incredibly welcoming and warm person. We don’t speak Italian, but somehow we still managed to understand what he has. said in his speech. Because certain things, like music, don’t need words to be understood “.
