Some fans of Alena Shoptenko suspect that she is competing with her colleagues. Indeed, in Ukraine there are many other popular choreographers who conquer the floor, including Ilona Gvozdeva, Vlad Yama, Evgeniy Kot and others.
However, in an interview with Segodnya Shoptenko admitted that now she lives without competition, although such a phenomenon was actually present before.
Of course, there was competition. I used to compete with colleagues, with other choreographers… But it became so much easier for me to live as soon as I stopped competing. It’s true, – Alena shares with us.
The choreographer explained that one day she realized that dancing is a special activity where you need to develop without competition.
At some point, I realized that choreography is a subjective activity… The question here is like directing: it’s all about vision, about taste. And it makes no sense to compete here. We need to develop ourselves and compete only with ourselves, – said Alena.
According to Shoptenko, you need to develop your own “flavor” in choreography and not try to repeat after someone else.
You need to feel your uniqueness and find some zest in yourself and develop it as much as possible, without turning to anyone or repeating after anyone, – said the dancer.
Note that a full interview with Alena Shoptenko will be published on the Segodnya website soon.
By the way, recently another choreographer and dancer Maksim Leonov spoke about conflicts with famous partners on the floor of the show “Dances with stars”.
