The other day, 45-year-old Russian TV presenter Dana Borisova, who spoke about Marina Khlebnikova’s addiction, admitted to Instagram subscribers that she had done liposuction. We asked the Ukrainian plastic surgeon Oleksandr Bebikh to tell you more about this popular procedure.
I saved up money for two months and was going to do liposuction of the abdomen, back and legs. I myself do not know what size I will have after the operation, so I am in no hurry to buy clothes, ”admitted Dana Borisova.
Earlier, the TV presenter said that the nine kilograms of excess weight that she gained prevent her from feeling comfortable. She boasted of new forms a couple of days after liposuction:
I do not regret a bit that I decided on this. The fifth day after the operation, and I am on the set almost every day. Regarding pain … I was given a prescription for good painkillers. I feel quite comfortable !.

Judging by the photo of Dana on social networks, the doctor worked on the shape of the hips and buttocks, and also, possibly, corrected the stomach. Today liposuction is one of the most demanded surgeries in plastic surgery. Bebih claims that the number of Ukrainians who want to get in good shape by removing excess fat is increasing by 10-20% annually.
The main task of the procedure: eliminate fat in the so-called “traps” – places where fat remains even after sports. In men, this is the stomach, chin, sides. In women, as in the case of Dana, the lower abdomen, thighs and buttocks, – the expert shares with us.
Liposuction procedure continues from forty minutes to two hours, but it is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia.
According to Alexander, during the vacuum removal of fat, the surgeon makes small punctures in the area where the fat has collected, and then inserts the cannula through the holes (a special tube attached to the vacuum apparatus – Ed.).
They liquefy fat and, under the influence of a vacuum, remove it from the body. In one procedure more than 3-4 liters of fat must not be removedbecause it makes the operation traumatic, says Bebih.

However, like any surgical operation, liposuction has a contraindication… It is not recommended for those who have oncological or chronic diseases that are in an exacerbation stage.

You can not do liposuction and obese patients, which is associated with disruption of the endocrine system. And also for patients with flaccid and inelastic skin (for example, after childbirth). In general, before prescribing an operation, the surgeon must find out about the patient’s health, says Alexander.
The first result of liposuction can be seen in about 2-3 weeks, when the bruising and swelling disappear. Final – after six months, provided that the patient followed all the surgeon’s recommendations and wore compression garments for several weeks after the operation. As a rule, patients do not have much discomfort.
More than possible discomfort – people are afraid of irregularities, dents or pits that may appear on the body after surgery. However, these “imperfections” will disappear after a couple of months when the skin shrinks, explains Bebich.
Before liposuction, the surgeon always evaluates the firmness of the patient’s skin, but after the procedure, it may lose firmness. This is because the amount of fat under the skin is reduced, but the volume of the skin itself remains the same. For this it is necessary to use compression garments.

The expert notes that the J-Plasma technology, which recently appeared in Ukraine, helps to effectively remove sagging skin.
This procedure is recommended after liposuction. For example, to remove the skin sagging on the abdomen, the surgeon makes a 5 mm wide micro-puncture in the correction zone, through which he inserts a disposable tip connected to the J-Plasma device. Through the tip, gaseous helium enters the skin, which is required to create a plasma flow. Plasma generates enough heat (37 ° C) to rapidly contract the skin. At this time, helium instantly cools the correction zone.
According to the plastic surgeon, this allows the skin to contract in just a couple of seconds, and the result is visible immediately after the operation. As Bebich notes, this procedure is now especially popular with Hollywood stars.
