(ANSA) – MILAN, DEC 31 – To greet the new year, Classica HD on Sunday 2 January at 10 am, on television for the first time, will broadcast the Concert in the Milan Cathedral, the concert promoted in 2021 by the Cameristi della Scala in collaboration with the Ghislieri Foundation, the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano and Intesa Sanpaolo. In the transept of the Milan Cathedral, the Cameristi della Scala and the University Choir of the Ghislieri College of Pavia directed by Maestro Giulio Prandi will perform a program that includes the Marian antiphon Regina Coeli for choir, strings and organ by Giuseppe Sarti, chapel master of the Milan Cathedral from 1779 to 1787, and two compositions by Antonio Vivaldi: the Concerto in D minor RV 128 for strings and continuo and Gloria RV 589 for solos, choir, trumpet, oboe, strings and continuo. The Chamber Orchestra of the Cameristi della Scala was founded in 1982 and is made up of musicians from the Orchestra della Scala. The University Choir of the Ghislieri College of Pavia is instead a choral formation made up of the best university students and enthusiasts of all ages, selected by audition. After last year’s concert of Baroque music at the Milanese sanctuary of San Giuseppe, this Concert dedicated to Sarti and Vivaldi marks a new stage in the collaboration between the Cameristi della Scala and Intesa Sanpaolo.
