Mikhail Efremov was offered early release from prison: Life beat him enough

Since September 2020, Mikhail Efremov, who committed a fatal accident, has been behind bars – first in a Moscow pre-trial detention center, and then in a colony near Belgorod. He was sentenced – seven years in prison.

Although the actor was found guilty of an accident, he was repeatedly asked to mitigate the punishment. Including Konstantin Khabensky, Yuri Stoyanov, Oleg Menshikov, Sergei Bezrukov complained that there were not many artists of Efremov’s level left and the audience was suffering.

Now, People’s Artist of Russia Boris Shcherbakov, who was once friends with Mikhail Efremov’s father, Oleg, spoke out in support of the actor. So, the artist admitted that the famous acting dynasty for him is of particular importance, because once Efremov Sr. accepted the then unknown Shcherbakov into the Sovremennik theater, where he served for more than 30 years.

At one time there was complete impunity – the surname worked … It seemed that it will always be so. But in my opinion, Mishka has already been punished enough. He understood something in this life. And I believe that it’s time to release it on parole (parole, – Ed.). Life has beaten him enough, – commented Shcherbakov on the air of the program “The Fate of a Man”.

Recall that during the fatal accident, Efremov was drunk. According to Shcherbakov, Mikhail Olegovich’s father also loved to drink, but did not allow himself to drive and generally work in this state.

Oleg Nikolaevich also drank. We are all not without sin. But he never disrupted performances, he never got drunk behind the wheel. If Oleg Nikolaevich were alive, I think he would simply have a heart attack after this accident. He was very worried about every act of his son. And what happened now, he simply would not have survived, – says the 75-year-old artist.

Mikhail Efremov himself has long repented of the perfect. He has repeatedly stated this during the court hearings.

I got what I got. There are actions that cannot be justified. Probably, it was sent to me for my luxurious life. Here, in the colony, the realization of what had been done came to me. I think about it all the time, every night I see that terrible accident. I have to atone for this sin all my life, – said the artist earlier.

What happened to Mikhail Efremov

On June 8, 2020, the artist became a participant in an accident in which the courier Sergei Zakharov died. So, Efremov’s Jeep Grand Cherokee crossed the double continuous line, drove into the oncoming lane and flew into the man’s van. He later died in hospital.

On September 8, 2020, a court hearing took place, at which the Presnensky Court of Moscow found Efremov guilty of an accident.

Earlier, the defender of Mikhail Efremov – Pyotr Kharakhorin – said that the actor almost died in prison last summer.
