how to fight (simply) against back pain?

Is back pain the evil of the century? Whether you sit all day in front of a computer or sit poorly in shoes that are too flat, there are a thousand and one reasons why so many people suffer from back pain. Tuesday on the show Well done for you on Europe 1, the coach Jean-Marc Delorme returned to what can range from inconvenience to pathology. The specialist also gave some simple advice to follow to avoid it and even fight against it once the pain has set in.

On the prevention side, unsurprisingly, the coach reminds you that you have to adopt a good position in front of your workstation. “At the level of the seat, if your back is not muscular enough, take the big balls” which are called Swiss Balls. You just have to choose one at the right height and replace your chair. “You have to take breaks” regularly, adds Jean-Marc Delorme, “get up” to change position and drink 1.5 liters of water every day.

Adapted stretching and sports

Once it’s too late and the tensions are there, “we can start doing little stretches”. The first is to keep your legs straight and extend your hands in front of you, leaning forward with your back horizontal. “We stretch gradually,” says the coach, who explains that it should not be painful. Alternative: “You can pull the arms up by putting your two hands intertwined and pulling up to the sky.”

On the sports side, Jean-Marc Delorme strongly recommends “sheathing exercises, such as the plank on the elbows, as well as exercises for the upper body, in particular rotation”. As it is a sport carried, cycling is also a good solution. “Be careful that it is just the legs that move, not the pelvis”, nevertheless specifies the sports coach.
