While the average number of Covid-19 infections continues to drop in France, many so-called “vulnerable” people still need to be vaccinated. The health ministry has announced that half a million people aged 80 and over remain unvaccinated, despite the campaign starting nine months ago.

They are at the forefront of the risks of serious forms, hospitalization or death. There are 550,000 people aged 80 or over who have not received any dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 when they are 4.12 million according to figures from the Ministry of Health. The government is therefore targeting this population as a priority for vaccination and the Ministries of Health and the Interior want the campaign to accelerate. After trying several devices, a national phone number will be set up in the coming days. He will be available to caregivers and relatives to request a home vaccination.

1.6 million third doses

At the same time, 1.6 million people eligible for the third dose have received their booster since September 1. Rather encouraging figures: 47% of those 80 and over have recalled, 44% for 65-79 years and 50% for residents in nursing homes, according to figures from the Ministry of Health.

The recall campaign is therefore gaining momentum, and the number of eligible people is changing day by day. The reason ? The last injection of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine must be six months or four weeks old for the Janssen vaccine. Currently, the people affected by the third dose are the over 65s, people at risk, nursing home residents, but also, for nearly a week, all health professionals.
