In Piacentino the first ‘hospital for women’ in ER

(ANSA) – BOLOGNA, NOV 13 – Diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the main female pathologies: this is the new vocation of the Piacenza hospital of Castel San Giovanni which thus becomes the first “women’s hospital” in Emilia-Romagna. The project was illustrated today in Piacenza, among others, by the regional councilor for health Raffaele Donini and the general director of the Piacenza Ausl Luca Baldino.

The choice of the Ausl to give the hospital this vocation and specialization translates into a concrete reorganization. The most substantial part concerns the arrival of the surgical activities of the breast and gynecological field. Among the positive effects, an increase is expected in all general surgery, with particular reference to oncological pathologies, and in other specialties, in particular for the area of planned interventions, traumatology and elective orthopedics.

Some steps have already been completed, others are being perfected and will be completed in the coming weeks.

The most innovative aspect is that of being able to dispose together, in a single structure, of different and integrated responses to the needs of citizenship, in particular of women, offered by different professionals, who are increasingly called to work online. The focus of the project is on the breast sector, on oncological pathologies in the gynecological field, without forgetting some problems characterizing the delicate passage of menopause, including alterations of the pelvic floor, osteoporosis and the high increase in risk of onset. of cardiovascular diseases. Another characterizing aspect is the transversal one of psychological assistance, which will be offered to women to support them during therapeutic treatments or in particular situations of need.

The developments of the program also provide for a technological upgrade for a value of around 200 thousand euros, the activation of research projects related to gender medicine and the main female pathologies and attention also to the reception of women, with the future realization of environments that make the patient feel “at home”, despite being in hospital.
