After the boost given by the President of the Republic, the recall campaign for vaccination against Covid-19 is in full swing. The third dose concerns in particular those over 65 years of age. Pharmacies are on the front line, because going to the local pharmacy is easier for seniors.

REPORTAGE

While many vaccinodromes have closed their doors, pharmacists are organizing themselves to meet this growing, sometimes pressing, demand. “I can immediately see that the second vaccination, he had it on May 11. We have more than six months, so we are going for the third dose!” confirms François Martial, pharmacist at Bouscat in Gironde, after a glance at his computer to ensure that the patient is indeed eligible for this third dose. At the back of his dispensary, in a separate room, the pharmacist has been carrying out vaccinations over the past few days.

Address the lack of vaccinodromes

In total, François Martial has about fifteen daily appointments. “There, we felt a very clear surplus. In my dispensary, for example, we have greatly increased requests for vaccination by 50%,” he assures us. “It is true that in all pharmacies, we make the effort to vaccinate, since there are centers that close and often in medical offices, they do not have time to manage the call at the same time, the preparation and the appointment. “

Receiving this third vaccine dose at the pharmacy, for Serge, 68, is much more practical than during the first two injections. “I had to go to the hospital in Libourne, it took me about half a day,” he recalls. “While here I am a mile from the pharmacy as the crow flies. It saves time.” Just enough time for the pharmacist to retrieve a vial of Pfizer anti-Covid vaccine, and it is already over for the retiree. “I did not feel anything,” he testifies.
