All over the world, detected cases of the Omicron variant are increasing. Many countries are taking steps to try to limit its impact. If no case has yet been discovered in France, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, has been realistic today. He said the variant was probably already circulating in the country.
Faced with the variant of the Omicron coronavirus, the executive wants to be transparent. This Sunday afternoon on the CNews set, government spokesman Gabriel Attal even gave details of these potential cases already present on French territory. They would be around ten according to him. “We test them, and we see if [les personnes] are positive for Covid “, he detailed.” These diagnoses will be passed to sequencing, and we will know in the coming hours if there are positive cases of the Omicron variant. At this point, we are on possible cases. “
To detail what is currently known about the Omicron variant, the scientific council will give a press conference on Monday morning.
Measures taken in several countries
Suspicions for the moment in France, but several countries are already taking new restrictive measures. Many of them barricade themselves in the face of this new threat. The Netherlands is the latest country to have identified cases among its nationals. Thirteen passengers who arrived from South Africa on Friday are carriers of the Omicron variant, according to Dutch health authorities.
For its part, Israel is banning from this evening the entry of foreign nationals into its territory, while Morocco is suspending all its tourist flights from tomorrow and for at least two weeks. In Europe, the United Kingdom is putting new restrictions in place on Tuesday, such as the mandatory isolation of travelers arriving on British soil, pending the result of their PCR test.
