Scammers have been trying to take advantage of the restructuring of the new Terra 2.0 network through “airdrops” of fake tokens from the new network. At the launch of the Terra 2.0 network, which was postponed to this Saturday (27) at 3 am, certain users who hold, or held, the old tokens will receive the new version for free. The devaluation reached 100% with the collapse of the network.

In order to deceive investors interested in this new version, scammers have been depositing fake LUNA 2.0 tokens in virtual wallets of influencers in the crypto world to attract the attention of retailers.

The scam happens when the smart contract implies that the user needs to send their old tokens to the scammer’s address in order to receive the new version. In fact, according to the project’s official planning, it is not necessary to do anything to receive the new version, just fit the eligibility criteria (having held the tokens before or after the network collapse.)

Those who already held the old version of the token will automatically receive the new version in their wallets. Users who held the old version through crypto exchanges will also receive it automatically if the exchange has announced support for the release.

According to PeckShield, a security company blockchainscammers distributed to virtual wallet addresses of CEOs and influencers cryptocurrenciessuch as the portfolio of Vitalik Buterin, Justin Sun and the 3AC Foundation.

The Wrapped Luna 2.0 contract address issued millions of fake tokens and sent them to the official addresses of Vitalik Buterin, Three Arrows Capital, Justin Sun, and other influencers, as noted in the Block Explorer of Ethereum (ETH).

According to PeckShield, the scammers’ goal is to trick users into believing that the “Wrapped Luna 2.0” address is an official Terra 2.0 token deployer and that they should transfer their older Luna tokens to these smart contract addresses.

Transactions to well-known wallets such as Justin Sun’s tagged addresses and Ethereum’s creator vitalik.eth address provide legitimacy to the contract page and attract frequent users who will exchange their worthless Luna tokens for a new version.

“PeckShield detected Scammers sending Wrapped LUNA 2.0 to Terra Deployer[…]It’s a personal trick. Be on alert!” he says.
