Why are former Google, Chanel and PwC employees developing a crypto wallet?

Before creating the Clos3tone startup who is developing a fashion-oriented crypto wallet, Amandine Degotte has spent more than half a decade working for brands such as Chanel and Diorin the area of customer engagement and digital strategy.

One thing she learned in that period was how fragmented the consumer journey can be.

“We have developed a lot of apps, but also AI algorithms to make sure we can deliver personalized recommendations to customers,” said Degotte, co-founder and CEO in Clos3tin an interview with The Block.

“I was very surprised that all the brands that are developing their own customer journeys are just relying on the data they get,” she said.

For example, if a customer were to buy from Chanelthe brand would ask the customer what the occasion of the outfit would be, what type of sleeves, length and colors they prefer and other questions related to the customer’s profile.

Then, the brand would hyper-personalize the shopping experience with that data. However, this same information would not be transferred to Louis Vuitton, Prada or any other store the customer visits.

Brands that have gone for personalized service often forget that consumers aren’t just shopping at that store, Degotte said.

But there is still no single place where all customer preferences are stored to create a seamless purchase path across multiple stores.

It was there that the former employee of the Chanel decided to use technology from Web 3.0 to connect luxury brands.

Clos3t Differences with Other Crypto Wallets

Clos3t is a wallet for clothes and digital currency. It can store “proof-of-attendance” protocols (POAPs), “proof-of-autheticity” and also non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

This feature differentiates Clos3t from other crypto wallets, such as MetaMask, for example, which is not industry-specific and requires some prior knowledge of crypto, Degotte said.

Clos3t allows people familiar with crypto who have digital wallets to connect them to the technology offered by the company.

Clos3t is also developing an app to welcome those new to the crypto industry.

“When I moved to Web 3.0 a few months ago, I really wanted to develop a super consumer-facing application that really leverages customer preferences, not just a brand, but everything that person likes that has to do with fashion,” said Degotte. .

In April, she began developing the company with Setareh Lotfi, the company’s co-founder and chief technology officer, and Virginie Le Bervet, co-founder and chief operating officer.

Lotfi previously worked in the product area at Googlefocusing on the Global Fire Impact Explorer, which combines Google Cloud’s technology capabilities with WWF’s conservation expertise to help fashion industry companies make sustainable decisions.

Le Bervet previously worked at the consultancy PwCformerly known as PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Ernst & Young (EY).

The development of Clos3t is connected to the crucial role that crypto wallets play in the Web 3.0 consumer experience.

The currency industry in particular has been catching on to this technology quickly.

For example, brands like Nike and Gucci launched stores in Roblox metaverse, and Farfetch and Gucci began accepting cryptocurrency payments. Rebecca Minkoff and Louis Vuitton also launched collections of NFTs. A crypto wallet would unify all these experiences.

Recently, Clos3t raised $300,000 from Fabric Ventures and Frst, with an option to increase the proceeds to $800,000. The company created by the formerChanel plans to raise more funds before officially launching the platform in the coming months.
