Invesco launches US$ 30 million fund focused on the metaverse

invescoa global investment management company, launched an investment fund focused on metaverse. Called Invesco Metaverse Fund, the fund intends to invest in several global companies present in the ecosystem.

Registered in Luxembourg, Invesco Metaverse Fund will work with different areas linked to the metaverseaccording to a report by Citywire this Monday (22).

Areas include next-generation computing and operating systems; hardware and devices that provide access to the metaverse; network for hyperconnectivity; immersive platforms powered by artificial intelligence; blockchain; tools for interoperability; and services and assets that facilitate the digitization of the real economy.

The background is approx. $30 millionan Invesco spokesperson told Decrypt.

Fund manager Tony Roberts and deputy fund manager James McDermottroe will manage the Invesco Metaverse Fund. Based in the UK, both are part of Invesco’s Asian and Emerging Markets team.

Metaverse could add more than $1 trillion

Roberts stated that virtual and augmented reality can add $1.5 trillion of dollars to the global economy by 2030.

“The interconnectedness of metaverse could have a transformative impact across industries as diverse as healthcare, logistics, education and sport,” said Roberts.

Invesco launched the first exchange-traded fund (ETF) blockchain in March 2019 on the London Stock Exchange. In September last year, the company entered into a partnership with Galaxy Digital to develop ETFs linked to various cryptocurrencies.

Now, focusing on metaverse“We will seek to capitalize on these new opportunities through a highly selective and conscientious approach to valuation,” added Invesco Metaverse Fund manager.

According to Decrypt, the investment fund for metaverse will be geographically diverse, with the presence of companies based in the United States, Asia and Europe. However, Invesco did not provide details on who these companies are.
