The federal government informed that a court agreement was approved this Thursday to end the actions that prevented the works of the power transmission line. manaus-Boa Vista, enterprise of the concessionaire formed by Alupar (ALUP3) and for electrobras (ELET3).

In a statement, the Ministry of Mines and Energy said that the judicial commitment between the government, the indigenous people of the Waimiri Atroari community, the public ministry and the entrepreneurs will allow the effective start of the works in the indigenous land, which should begin in October.

“In the next 36 months, around 715 kilometers will be built, 425 of which will be in Roraima and 290 in amazon, bordering the BR-174, the federal highway that connects the two capitals. Of this total, about 122 kilometers of the transmission line will be in the Waimiri Atroari Indigenous Land,” the ministry said in the note.

Last week, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Adolfo Sachsidahad said he expected “good news” about the project soon.

Controlled by Alupar, the project was tendered over 10 years ago and until today has not had its works started, mainly due to the lack of understanding with the indigenous peoples who would be affected by the design of the project.

The main objective of the transmission line is to reduce the dependence of the State of Roraima on thermoelectric energy, generated with fuels fossils.
