Jair Bolsonaro (PL)

In the case of the candidate and current president Jair Bolsonaro (PL)the topic was mentioned a few times.

Bolsonaro has already commented on the matter to criticize a Funai project, as he has also used it to argue that his government is liberal. In addition, cryptocurrencies have already been part of their coexistence indirectly through the “MITO22” token.

In an interview given to Rádio 96 FM, from Rio Grande do Norte, in August 2021, Jair Bolsonaro said that 99% of Brazilians do not know what is Bitcoin – as well as himself.

In this year’s Flow Podcast program, the candidate reaffirms his opinion on the crypto market.

“I never messed with it. I don’t know what bitcoin is and I think most of the population doesn’t,” she says.

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT)

The candidate and former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), does not make the issue clear.

The PT never commented, or opined, directly about. However, cryptocurrencies surround you in other ways.

An example is Henrique Meirelles, former president of the Central Bank during PT’s government, who announced his participation in the Global Council of Binance and, in a short space of time, its public support for Lula’s candidacy.

In addition, the Lula Institute – an entity linked to former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva – began teaching classes on Bitcoin and crypto technology in February this year in a module of a digital economy course.

The entity even released a video explaining the operation of the blockchain taught by sociology professor Edemilson Paraná, from the Federal University of Ceará.

Ciro Gomes (PDT)

The candidate first addressed the topic on the Flow Podcast in June this year. “Look, I don’t know if I’m too conservative — and I admire this attempt, but an unbacked currency and without a public authority behind it, I don’t know if one of these days will be a problem,” he said.

When confronted by the presenter at the time, Monark, about the fact that El Salvador had adopted cryptocurrency, Ciro replied that in the country the matter is progressing to an impressive business, and that it has gone much further.

“I already told you it won’t work and stuff… I bit my tongue. A private currency, of reasonable international course, reasonable store of value, is emerging,” she said.

Felipe D’Avila (NEW)

In the case of candidate Felipe D’Avila (NOVO), the topic was mentioned a few times. Given the liberal-economic ideology of the NOVO party, it was to be expected that the candidate would be aligned with a more permissive approach to the matter.

The candidate’s first relationship with the topic can be dated back to 2018, when the official website of the Center for Public Leadership (CLP) – a non-profit organization dedicated to the training of political leaders – founded by him, published an article entitled “Technology blockchain applied to the public sector”.

In an interview with Livecoins in August of this year, the candidate reaffirms the interest, previously exposed by the entity, in the crypto market.

He says he is familiar with and considers the sector very interesting in terms of innovation.

Soraya Thronicke (PSL)

Although she did not present the topic in the government plan, the candidate was one of the most engaged senators in the crypto asset regulation in Brazil.

In August 2020, the senator herself proposed Bill No. 2,303, of 20150, which deals with the subject.

Soraya’s bill ended up being joined with PL 3825/2019, which was already being processed along with PL 3949/2019.

The senator also presented amendments to PL No. 2303/2015, however this was replaced by the current Law No. 2,303, of 2015, which was already more advanced in the legal process.

Sofia Manzano (PCB)

Candidate Sofia Manzano (PCB), the topic was mentioned in an interview with the news portal Livecoins. Given the Communist ideology of the PCB, it was to be expected that the candidate would be aligned with a more critical approach to the matter.

In addition to declaring that he is “totally against” the use of Bitcoin with a currency of forced course in Brazil, the candidate says she does not believe it is a real bargaining chip. But she says she sees that technology can bring positive things.
