THE Petrobras (PETR4) announced this Tuesday the signing of a contract with Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters for the construction of the P-82, the tenth platform to be installed in the Búzios field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin.

According to Sembcorp Marine, the contract is worth $3.1 billion.

The P-82, of the FPSO type (floating storage and transfer unit), will have the capacity to produce up to 225 thousand barrels of oil per day, process up to 12 million cubic meters of gas per day and store more than 1.6 million barrels.

The project provides for the interconnection of 16 wells, nine of which are producers and seven injectors, Petrobras said.

The P-82 is scheduled to go into operation in 2026 and integrates a new generation of platforms, which are characterized by high production capacity and innovative low-carbon technologies, Petrobras said.

The Brazilian state-owned company is the operator of the Búzios field with a 92.6% stake, with Chinese partners CNOOC and CNODC (3.7% each).
