the billionaire Elon Musk said on Friday that it would support Ron DeSantis in 2024 if the governor of Florida, who recently secured a second term, were to run for president.
Earlier this month, DeSantis defeated Democratic opponent Charlie Crist by nearly 20 percentage points to be re-elected as governor of Florida, cementing himself as the top contender in the Republican Party.
Political pundits have given credence to DeSantis, who is seen as a potential challenger to former President Donald Trump in the field of 2024 Republican presidential candidates. trump announced 10 days ago that he will run for election again in 2024.
“My preference for the 2024 presidency is someone sensible and centered. I expected it to be the case with the government bidenbut I’m disappointed so far,” Musk wrote on Twitter.
“Yes,” he responded to a tweet when asked if he would support DeSantis in 2024.
“As a reminder, I was a significant supporter of the Obama-Biden presidency and (reluctantly) voted for Biden over Trump,” the Twitter owner said.
