ONS raises forecast for energy load and level of SE/CO reservoirs in December

O National Electric System Operator (ONS) raised its forecasts for load of electricity and level of the country’s main hydroelectric reservoirs in December, according to a bulletin released this Friday.

For the load, the agency estimated an increase of 1.2% in the last month of 2022 in the annual comparison, compared to 0.6% predicted last week.

As for the hydroelectric reservoirs in the Southeast/Center-West, the ONS estimated that they will reach the end of the year with 51.9% of capacity, against 51.2% previously projected.

The volume of rain that should reach the region’s hydroelectric plants in the month should be slightly higher. The agency’s forecast is for rainfall at 92% of the historical average in December, compared to 88% predicted in the previous week.

For the other submarkets, the ONS raised the rainfall forecast for the North (204% of the average, compared to 190% estimated last week) and made reductions for the South (83%, compared to 88%) and Northeast (86%, compared to 89%).
