IRB (IRBR3) plummets 9% on first day of reverse stock split

The actions of IRB (IRBR3) fell 9.28% this Wednesday (25), the anniversary of São Paulo, to R$ 25.31.

The jump in the price of actions of the company takes place after the end of the period of grouping of shares, in the ratio 30 to 1, which ended the day before (24).

The measure was the way found by the company’s shareholders to keep the shares trading on the Stock Exchange, since the shares of the IRB were operating below R$ 1 for several trading sessions in a row.

The reinsurer’s shares led the falls in the Ibovespa in 2022, with a decrease of 78% in the year.

The papers of IRB were removed from the index in its last portfolio rebalancing at the end of last year. In the early days of 2023, stocks posted gains of approximately 19%.

Also this week, the IRB reported a net loss of R$48.5 million in November 2022, an amount of R$65.3 million less than that recorded in the same period of 2021.

In the accumulated result for the first eleven months of the year, the reinsurer’s loss was R$ 633.7 million, R$ 123.3 million or 24.2% greater than that recorded in the same period of the previous year.

The award issued by IRB totaled BRL 542.4 million in the 11th month of 2021, a drop of 23.2% in the annual comparison.
