THE DPSP Groupmerger of the Drogarias Pacheco and Drogaria São Paulo banners, will open 130 new stores this year, an increase of 85% compared to the 70 units opened in 2022, the company said this Friday.

The openings of the second largest network of retail pharmacist in the country will take the group to more than 1,550 stores in nine states of the country, in addition to Federal District.

The movement takes place at a time of strong rivalry in the sector, with groups such as RD, from Bandeiras Raia and Drogasil, expanding store expansion despite the environment of inflation and high interest rates that have pressured the population’s income. There is also pressure from supermarkets to obtain regulatory permission to sell over-the-counter drugs in their stores.

In October, RD, industry leader, announced an increase in the forecast for opening new stores over the next four years, from 240 to 260 units per year.

The new DPSP stores will be opened in cities where the company is already present, with emphasis on the states of Pernambuco and Mato Grosso, the latter of which became part of the company’s map with the inauguration of the first unit last year.
