LVMH and L’Oreal weigh offers for Aesop slice

the luxury group LVMH and French skincare giant L’Oreal are among the companies in consumption studying bids for a stake in the Aesop that can value the brand at at least $2 billion, said people familiar with the matter.

Japanese beauty group Shiseido Co. it is also studying a possible bid, said the people, who asked not to be named because the discussions are not public.

Aesop is the luxury brand of the cosmetics manufacturer Natura & Co., which works with the Bank of America it’s the morgan stanley as it explores selling a stake in the business, Bloomberg News reported last year.

Deliberations are ongoing and there is no certainty that they will result in bids for Aesop, according to the people. LVMH, L’Oreal, Natura and Shisheido declined to comment.

São Paulo-based Natura said in October it was weighing options to unlock value in Aesop, including a possible IPO or spin-off. Tough markets for new listings in 2022 have pushed the company towards a stake sale.

The efforts are part of a broader overhaul orchestrated by Fábio Barbosa, who took over as president last year.
