Carnival 2023: Champion schools parade this Saturday (25) and Sunday (26) have the biggest popcorn on the planet

It’s not just in Rio de Janeiro that Carnival isn’t over yet. The revelry also continues in São Paulo this weekend, with blocks through the streets of the city. There is also the traditional parade of champion samba schools.

The carnival in São Paulo has 85 blocks, which will parade between today (25) and tomorrow (26). The highlight is the closing party of the São Paulo revelry, which will be in charge of the Bahian singer Daniela Mercury.

She conducts the block ‘A Pipoca da Rainha’, considered by the Guinness Book, the record book, as the ‘biggest popcorn on the planet’. The block will parade on Rua da Consolação (2101 to 585), starting at 2 pm.

Earlier, this Saturday, at Ibirapuera there’s Navio Pirata, the Carnival block by the band BaianaSystem. The next day, in the same place, there is the Bloco do Pedro Sampaio, with a route between the Obelisk and the Monument to the Flags.

Also this Saturday (25), starting at 11 pm, the five champion schools of São Paulo’s carnival parade. In addition to Mocidade Alegre, this year’s winner, the event also features Mancha Verde, Império de Casa Verde, Academicos do Tatuapé and Dragões da Real.

There will also be the presence of the first two placed in access groups 1 and 2. Thus, Vai-Vai and Camisa Verde e Branco, respectively champion and vice-champion of Access Group 1, will parade, in addition to Torcida Jovem, as champion of Group of Access. Access 2, and Dom Bosco de Itaquera, runner-up.
