A Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) of Senate approved this Tuesday an invitation request to the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddadto explain the choice of João Fukunaga for the presidency of the Banco do Brasil Employee Pension Fund (I predicted).
Authored by Senator Sergio Moro (União-PR), the request entered as an extra-tariff item in the commission. When asking to be included in the voting list, Moro argued that the appointment to Previ’s presidency generated “a certain discussion in the market in the sense that the person would eventually not have the qualifications — I confess that I don’t know if he has them or not; maybe you have them”.
“Basically, the idea here is exactly to clarify the fact, without any kind of prejudice”, said Moro.
employee of Bank of Brazil since 2008, Fukunaga has been appointed to the position by the bank after the retirement of the then president of Previ, Daniel Stieler. Qualified as a leader by the National Superintendence of Complementary Pensions (Previc), Fukunaga took over the post with a term scheduled until May 31, 2026.
