R$ 3 million property: Lula’s Minister omits house in declaration of assets to the Electoral Justice

the minister of Secretary of Social Communication of the Presidency of the RepublicPaulo Pimenta, omitted from his declaration of assets delivered to the Electoral Court a mansion in a prime area of ​​Brasília.

According to a report by Folha de S. Paulothe property, which was acquired by Pimenta in 2013, is valued at R$ 3 million and is located in the Lago Norte neighborhood.

To the newspaper, the minister stated that the house is his and his wife’s property and that it is duly informed in her income tax return.

However, the electoral law requires that all politicians who intend to run for office submit an updated declaration of all their assets in the candidacy registration application – which did not happen with the mansion in Brasília.

Pimenta also told Folha that he followed PT guidelines in his statements.

Who is Minister Paulo Pimenta?

Paulo Pimenta is from Santa Maria (RS) and is 57 years old. He is a journalist, agricultural technician and politician affiliated with the PT.

He served two terms as councilor for the PT in Santa Maria and in 1998 was elected state deputy for Rio Grande do Sul.

In 2000, he was elected deputy mayor of Santa Maria, on the ticket of Valdeci Oliveira (2001-2002). Three years later, he was elected federal deputy, fulfilling the mandate which he was re-elected in 2006, which lasted until 2011.

Pimenta ran for Mayor of Santa Maria in 2008, finishing in second place.

On August 11, 2005, Pimenta held the position of vice-president of the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into Vote Purchases, known as CPI do Mensalão.

In 2022, the politician was again elected federal deputy, but left to assume the post of minister in the Lula government.
