Corn 2nd crop planting in Paraná reaches 77% of the area and remains behind, says Deral

the planting of corn second crop reached 77% of cultivated areas in the Paraná in 2022/23, advance of 16 percentage points in the weekly comparison, but continues with the slower sowing at least since 2016, showed data from the Department of Rural Economy (Deral) this Tuesday.

the harvest of soyin turn, reached 60% of the areas, with a weekly increase of 12 points and also lagging behind in comparison with recent years.

In the same period of the previous cycle, the planting of “safrinha” corn was almost finished in Paraná, with 94% of the crops sown. Soybean harvest reached 75%.

On the other hand, the quality of crops this season appears to be higher than that recorded in 2021/22.

According to Deral, 99% of second crop corn areas are considered good, versus 95% a year earlier.

In the case of soy, areas in good condition are 92%, against 55% in the annual comparison.

Regarding summer corn, the harvest in Paraná reached 54% of the areas, compared to 43% last week and 80% in the same period of the previous season.
