A copel (CPLE6) ended the fourth quarter of 2022 with a net profit of BRL 624 million, up 57.4% compared to the same period last year, according to a document sent to the market this Tuesday (21).
The number was above Bloomberg’s expectations, which expected net income of R$ 468 million.
Adjusted Ebitda (excluding non-recurring items) reached R$1,427.6 billion, an amount 37.3% higher than last year’s figure.
According to the company, this increase is mainly due to the better result of Copel GeT (increase of 48.3%), Copel Distribuição (+10.4%) and Compagas (increase of R$ 62.4 million), partially mainly offset by the performance of UTE Araucária.
“It is noteworthy that manageable costs, except for provisions and reversals, had a reduction of 28.1%, in real terms when comparing periods”, he notes.
Operating revenue was R$ 5.2 billion, down 14.7%. The company informs that the reduction is the result of:
- decrease of R$ 752.2 million with electricity supply, mainly due to the
no dispatch from UTE Araucária in 4Q22; - the R$139.8 million drop in electricity supply revenue, mainly due to the 6.4% drop in the distributor’s billed captive market;
- the decrease of R$ 134.1 million in revenue from electricity network availability, mainly due to the lower remuneration of transmission assets;
In the fourth quarter, operating costs and expenses totaled BRL 5,209.6 billion, a decrease of BRL 13.8% compared to the BRL 6,046.9 billion recorded in the same period of 2021.
