A General Motors (GM) will paralyze part of the production at the factory in São José dos Campos (SP) for 10 days, a measure that should affect around 2,700 employees, the local union said this Thursday.

The entity, which organized a workers’ assembly this Thursday to charge the company with measures to preserve jobs, said that the stoppage will take place between June 12th and 23rd, with a return scheduled for the 26th.

During the period, the factory, which according to the São José dos Campos Metalworkers’ Union has around 4,000 workers, will stop producing around 3,000 units of the S10 pickup truck. In addition to the pickup, the factory produces the Trailblazer utility model and engines and transmissions.

According to the union, the strike in São José dos Campos takes place less than two months after collective vacations at the factory, which took place between March 27 and April 11.
