‘Cryptocurrency sheik’ who has already applied a scam to Xuxa and Sasha is sentenced to US$ 17.7 million

The Court of Justice of São Paulo issued a condemnatory sentence against Francisley Valdevino da Silvaalso known as the “Sheik of Cryptocurrencies” and a group of companies associated with it.

According to Estadãoin a publication this Thursday (1), the decision determines that they must indemnify businessman José Janguiê Bezerra Diniz by R$ 17.7 million. Diniz is the founder of Centro Universitário Maurício de Nassau, a private institution of higher education based in Aracaju, Sergipe.

The best known, the Rental Coins financial pyramid, company which theoretically says “perform loans and leases of cryptocurrencies and make the operation profitable for its customers”.

He is among the victims of Francisley Valdevino da Silva’s fraudulent scheme, which caused damage of R$ 1 billion. The “Sheik of Cryptocurrencies” has been in custody since November last year.

The promise made by Valdevino was to pay interest of 0.5% to 5% per month for the amount invested. The alleged businessman also guaranteed the return of the client’s assets at the end of the one-year contract.

Celebrities fell in coup

In addition to the businessman, celebrities also fell in the graces of the Sheik of Cryptocurrencies. Among them, the Xuxa Meneghel, her daughter Sasha and gospel singer João Figueiredo in June 2022.

Sasha and João took a loss of R$ 1.2 million when investing in the company of Francisley Valdevino da Silva, from Curitiba. Sasha and João met Francisley during a service at an evangelical church in São Paulo and, according to the newspaper The globe reported at the time, other pastors and faithful were also victims.
