As reported by Decrypt, the Houston Rockets basketball team has taken another step into the crypto world after announcing a partnership with NYDIG, a crypto-related financial services company. Due to the agreement, athletes will be paid in bitcoin (BTC).
With the new partnership, crypto services company will act as the official partner and platform for bitcoin services, and the two parties will jointly develop educational content and community initiatives.
According to Decrypt, NYDIG’s performance on the basketball team does not stop there. The service company’s logo will be posted on the team’s social media and at the Houston Rockets stadium, where it will appear on the sides of the court.
In addition, the agreement with NYDIG has given the company room naming rights, meaning that the arena’s exclusive cabins will be named “Bitcoin Suites by NYDIG”.

The company will not only pay the athletes in bitcoin, it will also be the custodian of the cryptocurrency for the team.
The Houston Rockets’ newest partnership isn’t the only one on the team with companies in the crypto world.
According to Decrypt, the NBA team partnered with crypto miners maker Bitmain in 2018, and earlier this year made another deal with Socios.com, a platform that trades fan tokens.
Despite the partnership with Socios.com, no exclusive team token was announced. So far, the agreement concerns only the marketing of the platform.
