There is no lack of reasons for investors to worry in this week that ends. From the PEC of Precatório to the up-and-down of oil and iron ore, passing through the clash between the Presidents of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, e from Petrobras, Joaquim Silva and Luna, around the state-owned price policy, everything contributed to the volatility of the markets.

But the big risk factor came from South Africa, where a new variant of the coronavirus was discovered. Named omicron by the World Health Organization (WHO), the strain has worrying mutations that can make current vaccines ineffective. With cases detected in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Holland and Hong Kong, among others, the variant caused the world’s major stock exchanges to collapse – including the Brazilian.
