Impacts of privatizations is the subject of hearing on Monday

A Participatory Legislation Commission gives Chamber of Deputies meets this Monday (29) to discuss the impacts of privatizations.

The debate was suggested by deputies Erika Kokay (PT-DF) and Leonardo Monteiro (PT-MG).

According to them, between 2020 and 2021, the federal government included more than 200 projects in the Investment Partnership Program (PPI), through which concessions, privatizations and partnerships are made with the private sector for public works and services.

Parliamentarians claim that these processes were accelerated, “in many cases disregarding stages, impact studies and other legal procedures necessary to make them feasible.” They also complain that privatizations were not discussed with society.

Among the projects that are underway, Erika Kokay and Leonardo Monteiro cite the privatization of Eletrobras (ELET3;ELET6), gives Coin House, of the Brazilian Communication Company (EBC), of the post offices, gives Telebras (TELB3;TELB4) , do Federal Data Processing Service (serpro) and the sale of equity interests in Infraero.

The deputies emphasize that the union representations linked to these companies, in addition to fighting against privatization itself, are also fighting to ensure the maintenance of jobs.

Debates

They were invited to discuss the matter with the committee, among others:
– the coordinator of the Parliamentary Front Joint in Defense of the Public Service, deputy Rogério Correia (PT-MG);
– the coordinator of the Mixed Parliamentary Front in Defense of National Sovereignty, Deputy Patrus Ananias (PT-MG);
– the coordinator of the Mixed Parliamentary Front in Defense of the Post, Deputy Leonardo Monteiro;
– the coordinator of the Mixed Parliamentary Front in Defense of Eletrobras, deputy Henrique Fontana (PT-RS);
– a representative of the National Federation of Workers in Postal and Telegraph Companies and Similar (Fentect);
– the representative of the National Electricity Collective Fabiola Latino Antezana;
– the president of the National Federation of Employees in Companies and Public and Private Data Processing, Information Technology and Similar Services (Fenadados), Carlos Alberto Valadares Pereira.

The hearing will be held in plenary 6, from 1:30 pm.

Interested parties will be able to follow the debate, live, through the e-Democracy portal, including sending questions, criticisms and suggestions to the guests.
