ANP: Petrobras, Sinopec and Petrogal receive award for technological innovation

A Petrobras (PETR4) and Repsol Sinopec were the big winners of the “ANP Technological Innovation” award, granted since 2014 by the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels.

The objective is to recognize and reward research, development and innovation (RD&I) projects in the sector of Petroleum, gas natural e biofuels.

Projects need to be developed in the Brazil by research institutions accredited by the ANP, Business Brazilian companies and oil companies, with total or partial use of resources from the RD&I Clause present in the Exploration and Production (E&P) contracts.

According to the ANP, since the award was created, the RD&I clause has generated around R$ 20 billion in investments. In 2020 alone, R$1.64 billion were generated.

Petrobras was awarded together with the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Senai from Santa Catarina and University of São Paulo (USP), and in two other categories.

One with UFRGS and the other with Petrogal and Símeros Projetos Eletroeletrônicos.

Repsol Sinopec won with a project with PUC-Rio and the company Ouro Negro, and another with the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFRJ) and Tidewise Engnharia e Serviços Navais.

In the “Industry Personality” category, the winner was Álvaro Teixeira, geologist and engineer, graduated in 1957, who has been in the oil and gas exploration and production segment for more than five decades; and as “Personality from the Academy” the award went to Luís Fernando Azevedo, associate professor at PUC-Rio, who holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from PUC-Rio and a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
